Service Questions
Do you work with companies directly, or only through law firms?
Both. Founders and companies engage PatentDrafters directly for single applications and ongoing portfolio work. Law firms use the practice for overflow and specialist matters, drafted in their templates under the supervising attorney's direction.
Do you handle filing and USPTO responses?
Yes. Filing, office action responses, examiner interviews, and continuation strategy can be handled within the same engagement. The written engagement states which of these are included in each matter.
Can we work with you without an in-house lawyer?
Yes. Many companies engage the practice directly. The initial consultation establishes the general need and the parties involved, and the next steps are agreed in writing.
Can we start with one application?
Yes. Many engagements start with a single provisional or non-provisional application. If more filings follow, the first application is drafted with the later ones in mind.
Which technologies do you take on?
Electrical and computer technologies and the systems built on them: AI/ML, software, semiconductors, electronics, telecommunications, and networking, applied in areas such as medical devices, industrial automation, robotics, energy, aerospace, and automotive. Consumer products, mechanical devices, and medical devices are also taken on, with fit confirmed at the consultation. Pharmaceutical, biotech, and chemical inventions are referred to other counsel.
